Elevate UK Scaffolding is proud to be delivering a major scaffolding package at the iconic St Richard's Church in Ham, South West London, supporting vital conservation and restoration works on one of the country's most distinctive post-war ecclesiastical buildings.

Recently listed as a Grade II heritage asset, St Richard's Church is recognised for its unique architectural design, featuring a striking Star of David floor plan and rare hyperbolic paraboloid roof structures. Designed by architect Ralph Covell and consecrated in 1966, the building has become a significant landmark within the Ham Riverside community.
The church is currently undergoing an extensive programme of emergency stabilisation and restoration following the discovery of significant roof deterioration and water ingress, which led to its inclusion on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register. The restoration project is supported by substantial funding from Historic England and The National Lottery Heritage Fund, helping to secure the long-term future of this remarkable building.
As part of the initial phase of works, Elevate UK Scaffolding has been appointed to design, supply and erect a comprehensive external scaffolding canopy and access system. The temporary works structure will provide critical weather protection while allowing specialist surveyors, engineers and conservation contractors safe access to undertake structural investigations and essential repairs.
Working on heritage buildings presents unique challenges, requiring careful planning, engineering expertise and a strong focus on preserving the integrity of the structure. Our experienced team has collaborated closely with project stakeholders to deliver a bespoke scaffolding solution that meets the demanding requirements of this high-profile restoration scheme.

The scaffold canopy will play a crucial role in preventing further water ingress and safeguarding the church's distinctive timber roof structure while long-term restoration plans progress. The project represents another example of Elevate UK Scaffolding's commitment to supporting the preservation of historically significant buildings across London and the South East.
We are delighted to contribute to the protection and restoration of St Richard's Church and look forward to supporting the project through its next phases as this important community landmark is preserved for future generations.
